Anime Ash! Chibi Grim!

So, let me tell you a little secret.

Back when I first started The Iron King, even before I got published, it was a secret dream of mine to have one of my books turned into a manga or an anime.  This was my anime-crazy stage of life, and I often imagined, in hidden fantasies that I told no one about, how Puck, Ash, Grim, and Meghan would look in anime or manga form.

Well, now I don't have to wonder anymore.

The Iron King has just been released in Japan, and I have the great pleasure of showing you the Japanese covers.  When I saw them for the first time, I literally squealed with excitement.  There were Ash, Meg, Puck, and Grim, in ANIME FORM.  It was more awesome then I could have hoped for.

Check out the Iron Fey Japanese website here: http://www.harlequin.co.jp/fairyprincess/

And that wasn't all.  I discovered the artist, Hideyuki Mori, is on Facebook, and has done several more images for the Japanese Iron Fey series. His artwork is amazing!  I mean, feast your eyes on these handsome anime boys.  Recognize them?

Sigh.  Yup, that's exactly how I pictured Ash in manga form.  You can check out Hideyuki's artwork here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.472252169455998.128167.173069102707641&type=3#!/media/set/?set=a.472252169455998.128167.173069102707641&type=3  and let him know what you think of his work.  I think its fabulous.  Wonder if he'd be willing to do an Iron Fey graphic novel?  And if that happens, I wonder if my crazy little dream of The Iron King becoming a real anime will be a reality?

Hmmmm....

*Goes off to dream some more*

  8. I'd never thought of it before, but this series would make an awesome manga (and anime)! I hope that happens someday, since a lot of novels get manga-ized these days. ;)

I heard Grim highjacked Harlequin_jp twitter account yesterday celebrating it. I wish I noticed beforehand!

  10. I literally squeed when I saw those pictures. They're SO GOOD. If there really were an Iron Fey manga, I would be in heaven. I'm not such a manga girl, but I go through spurts whenever I find a good one. (Currently, Fullmetal Alchemist is love.)
The site is really cool! The summary is hysterical, once you use the fail that is Google Translate.
I might have to find a way to buy this book, even if I can't read a letter of Japanese. To the interwebs! (Or, I just need to print out those pictures. O.O)

By the way, Julie, I found this picture (I'm a major Pinterest dork) that screamed Puck (in his bird form) and Ash:

  12. Whoa, that's totally cool!

  13. I pictured them with giant heads and itty-bitty bodies because that's how my friend draws anime. Also, in that interview, when told Ash that he looked cute in said form I jumped up and down. But the pictures are good.

  16. This is fantastic! The artwork is gorgeous. If the Iron Fey was an anime, I'd watch that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the series called "Fairy Princess" in Japanese?

  17. Honestly, I not as thrilled as everyone else seems to comment. Don't get me wrong, the art work and style is amazing but for some characters...
I went on the artist facebook's page and saw the other drawings he did. They are great but the only two drawings I'm not loving is Machina and Puck (I freaking love Puck).
Machina's hair should belong to Puck, I mean Machina does have long hair afterall.
If he just gave Puck that hair style and give Machina's his long Sephiroth status hair, I would love his drawings even more.

  18. It is kinda creepy how these are almost exactly how I pictured Puck and Ash,particularly the cover of iron daughter, with ash in the famous long black coat, oh i love it!! My vision of Meghan always varied somewhat with the book, but i love the drawing of her! <3!

  19. Wow! These are great, I'm so happy for you Ms. Kagawa! The artwork is amazing. Not how I imagined any of them, but to each their own, right? So, it still looks really awesome:D
    Congrats!

  21. I finally got The Immortal Rules, and Julie, I've just got one thing to say: What the HELL did you do to Ethan? He's unbelievably bitter, and from the sound of it, he doesn't like Meghan much. Gah, Julie, you've got nerves to do that to that poor boy. Well, anyways, I'm very excited to read TIR, and I'll tell you what I think soon!
    P.S. TEAM PUCK FOREVER!!!!!!

  22. From the first time Amazon offered "Iron King" free through Amazon Vine to now, I have absolutely loved your writing. My teen patrons absolutely love you, too. I always recommend the Iron King series whenever a patron asks for a great read. Actually, your book first came to our library because I personally bought copies way back when for all three of our branches. Now, thanks to your popularity, we can add titles as they are published. Please keep up the great work. I look forward to many more great reads from you. Oh, and I wouldn't mind them being offered on Amazon Vine again. It's a pleasure to write honest reviews for your books.
