'Til the World Ends Anthology: Dawn of Eden

Hey, Immortal Rules fans!  Bet you didn't know that I've written a prequel to The Immortal Rules.  Yep, it's called DAWN OF EDEN, but it's not going to be available online or from Harlequin TEEN.  This novella will only appear in a special Luna anthology called 'Til the World Ends, and also features authors Ann Aguirre and Karen Duvall.

Here is a short synopsis:

Dawn of Eden by Julie Kagawa

Before The Immortal Rules, there was the Red Lung, a relentless virus determined to take out all in its path. For Kylie, the miracle of her survival is also her burden--as a doctor at one of the clinics for the infected, she is forced to witness endless suffering. What's worse, strange things are happening to the remains of the dead, and by the time she befriends Ben Archer, she's beginning to wonder if a global pandemic is the least of her problems....

If you've read The Immortal Rules, you might recognize the name "Archer."  Also exciting, Harlequin plans to reveal the cover of Til the World Ends on September 17th on harlequinblog.com.  So be on the lookout for that.

Quick note: while this is a prequel to The Immortal Rules, it is not a YA novella.  It is an adult story with adult content, so consider yourselves warned.

More news to come!

Julie

  6. Halloween is coming up fast. Would you consoder having another costume contest? The vampire one was loads of fun, but the faeries of the world might have felt left out. Is a halloween contect in the cards? What might be cool is having people write a short story about the character they've made up for their costume! Anyway, best of luck writing, and happy halloween!

    1. Inspired by Blood of Eden the immortal rules

I glared at them and growled, as I dared them to rush at me has I held my long sharp but thin blade also known as a katana. The shifted in unease the suddenly came and charged me, but I was ready. I dodged the first and brought my katana up to sever the head from the head as stopped in mid-air and flopped to the ground. The others which are called rabids surrounded me and hissed in frustration. "Scared?" I taunted while spinning around in place smacking each rabid with my sword.

One by one the rabids dropped dead, cold blood oozing out of their bodies. As I headed away from Eden, I remember what Kanin, my vampire creator told me. His words rang through my mind, 'Sometime in your life, Allison Sekemoto, you will kill a human being. The question is not if it will happen, but when. Do you understand?' Well Kanin honestly I don't know when I no longer will able to kill a human. I walked along the road I had once travelled on, but this time alone.

I had reached the the hut where Ruth had been burried. Walking over, I bent over and sat beside the ground and propped my elbow on my knee. "Ruth...I-I'm sorry," I whispered and swallowed a lump in my throat. "That, I couldn't save you. Caleb had seen me crawl out of the ground yelled at me as he begged me to bring you back. Which would have meant to turn you into a... A monster..." I shivered and sobbed the last words out.
