The the new series is about...

Well, the cat's out of the bag.

Remember a little while back I'd sold a new series to Harlequin Teen, only I couldn't tell anyone what it was about yet?  That it was top secret, and the only hint I could give was the story was a modern day fantasy with mythical creatures?

Apparently word has leaked.

The good news for you guys is now I get to announce what the new series will be about.  So, for everyone wondering what those mythical creatures are, today I am going to tell you.  Are you ready?

Manticores.

Yes, you heard right.  Manticores.  For those of you who don't know what a manticore is, check out the pic below.

Only maybe not so huge.  A manticore is a lion-like monster with a human face and a stinger tail.  They are fond of human flesh, and generally not nice.

Or are they just misunderstood?

My new story takes place in the modern day, when a girl goes to Greece for summer vacation and finds the world's last manticore.  He is an ancient creature who has learned to shapeshift into human form for protection, and has learned to evolve with the times.  For instance, he no longer eats humans.  Of course, they meet and fall in love, only to have their lives threatened with an ancestor of Hercules arrives to kill the manticore and settle an old grudge, and inevitably falls in love with the girl, too.  Thus setting up a love triangle that spans centuries.

So that is the premise for the new books.  I suppose its kind of a relief now, to finally let everyone know.  Tell me what you think of the new series in the comments, and as always, on this wonderful 1st day of the month....

Images for The Iron King manga

Sigh, well my trip to Hollywood was postponed a week, so I will have to wait awhile to see Universal.  In the meantime...

Check out these new images from the Iron King manga.  :)

And, PAGE ONE of the manga!  It has yet to be inked, but we are moving forward. :)

Pretty cool, no?  I'm loving the artwork.  You can see even more cool images over at the Indigogo page,  including the final cover.  Lemme know what you think!  =)

Hollywood and Universal

Hey everyone!

Guess where I'm going next week!  I'll give you a hint:

Or, if that's not enough of a hint, here's another one:

Remember that time when Universal Studios optioned my new, yet-to-be-titled, yet-to-be-WRITTEN book series?  Well, next week, I am flying down to Hollywood to meet with the Universal people and discuss possible movie plans.

Who's excited? I'M SO EXCITED!

I still can't reveal what the series is about, or if there will be a movie for absolute certain.  But, it's a massive step in the right direction.  Fingers crossed, everyone.  Fingers crossed.

Also, I've been told I must try an In-and-Out burger while I'm there, as we don't have such a thing in Kentucky.  And I'll be sure to take lots of pictures for the "post-Hollywood trip" post, so more exciting things to come.

Now I have the "Beverly Hills" song stuck in my  head.  *Sings* "That's where I want to BE."

Tiny dragons

A pic of my clay/work area.

Also, there appear to be 3 funny little micro dragons hanging around.  Where did they come from?  Aagh, they're getting into everything!  Guess I'll have to find them homes, soon.

A quick Etsy shop announcement: I will be putting out new stuff on Saturdays at noon, EST.  So if you want to check out what clay critters are up for sale, I'd suggest doing so right at noon because they tend to sell out VERY fast.  (Last week, it took three minutes and everything was gone.)

Etsy link

This week, Ash and Puck chibis will finally  make an appearance in the shop, so be on the lookout for them, as well as a key dragon and maybe a wizard cat.

Now, if you'll excuse me, the micro dragons are getting into the cupboards.  ;-)  Until next time.

Eternity Cure ARC winners and Indigogo

Hey everyone!

So, the Kickstarter campaign was cancelled, sadly, but huge thanks to everyone who pleged and supported it.  And, worry not, there are still plans to turn the Iron King into a graphic novel, manga-style this time!

(Yes, I know Machina looks like Sephiroth, lol.  The cover isn't final, and designs are still being considered.  But I told the artist Machina was inspired by Sephy, and they sort of went with it.)

Now we have a new campaign, at Indigogo.  So if you pledged to the Kickstarter, be sure to go check out the new Indigogo page for most of the same prizes.  (Plus new prizes, like Grim rocks, and sketches by me.)

If you'd like to spread the word, that would be amazing, though I won't pressure you.  I DO, however, have some prizes to give out for the last contest.  Three ARCs of The Eternity Cure and an Allie chibi, I believe.  So, let's get on with that, shall we?  The winners of the two signed Eternity Cure ARCs are:

Ann M. (Scrappedprincess)

and

Chyna (Chynangie)

And the winner of the Eternity Cure ARC and a handmade Allie chibi is: Go Flash Go!

So congrats to the winners!  I will be emailing you shortly for your addresses so I can send you your swag.  ;-)  Everyone else, thank you so much for all your support.  I hope you will consider donating to the new campaign, cause I'd love to see The Iron Fey as a manga, wouldn't you?

Thanks again!

Julie

Etsy Shop is open!

Ze shop is now open!

The Etsy shop has been opened for buisness.  I've just started this venture, so I'm still in the learning process, but I hope to get better as I go.  Check out a few of the things up in the store right now.  (If they haven't sold, that is.)

And several more.

Link to the shop, KagawaCrafts.  Keep checking back for more!

Thanks!

The Last Clay Critters

Okay, so this will probably be my last post about clay critters before putting some of them up for sale in an Etsy shop.  That's not to say I'm going to stop claying, and I'll still use this blog to showcase when and what will be going into the shop, but here are the last of the critters before they go up for sale.

Ponies, ponies everywhere.  Ponies ponies in my hair.  Well, maybe not in my hair, but I do have quite the herd.

And here are the new members of The Herd.

Rearing unicorn

Shaggy unicorn pony.  (Inspired after watching Brave.)

Gray Pegasus pony

Brown Pegasus pony

And the non-ponies.

Another dragon.  Tried something new, where I painted on his markings. He's cuddling a blue diamond like a teddy bear, because that's what dragons do.  ;)

Wizard Cat

And, our favorite grumpy gray cat.

So, that is the final post before I announce when the Etsy shop will open.  I hope you enjoyed the pics and have a few favorites in mind.  What did you like best?  The dragons, the ponies, the book characters, or something else?   I would love to hear your thoughts, so I know what kind of critters to keep making.

Thanks!
