The the new series is about...

Well, the cat's out of the bag.

Remember a little while back I'd sold a new series to Harlequin Teen, only I couldn't tell anyone what it was about yet?  That it was top secret, and the only hint I could give was the story was a modern day fantasy with mythical creatures?

Apparently word has leaked.

The good news for you guys is now I get to announce what the new series will be about.  So, for everyone wondering what those mythical creatures are, today I am going to tell you.  Are you ready?

Manticores.

Yes, you heard right.  Manticores.  For those of you who don't know what a manticore is, check out the pic below.

Only maybe not so huge.  A manticore is a lion-like monster with a human face and a stinger tail.  They are fond of human flesh, and generally not nice.

Or are they just misunderstood?

My new story takes place in the modern day, when a girl goes to Greece for summer vacation and finds the world's last manticore.  He is an ancient creature who has learned to shapeshift into human form for protection, and has learned to evolve with the times.  For instance, he no longer eats humans.  Of course, they meet and fall in love, only to have their lives threatened with an ancestor of Hercules arrives to kill the manticore and settle an old grudge, and inevitably falls in love with the girl, too.  Thus setting up a love triangle that spans centuries.

So that is the premise for the new books.  I suppose its kind of a relief now, to finally let everyone know.  Tell me what you think of the new series in the comments, and as always, on this wonderful 1st day of the month....

    How are you so good?

Did you just spin that story out of thin air? When I read it over I just started laughing.

I hope you'll tell us the real plot line soon!

  27. That actually sounds super cool. You should write it as a story. Too bad it's not real

  28. I graduate from University this year and my minor is Classics. I'd totally read that ;) It would take a pretty talented writer to turn that concept into something really worth reading, but it's you...you could do it! :)

  29. that's so not nice!!! please please please, can't you tell us what it REALLY is about???

  34. jajajaajajajajaja *snort* that was great. que chistoso.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Is it sad that I would totally read that book?

    ReplyDelete
  36. At least this one wasn't as drastic and horrible as the one she posted last year... I just about fainted.

    ReplyDelete
  37. lmao I read that and just stared at the screen thinking Wtf? manticores in love..Then I scrolled down and realized you're awful. (:

Not gonna lie a manticore story would be cool minus the whole love triangle redemption thing though

    ReplyDelete
  38. I actually liked that plotline T.T

  39. I agree with the comments above, I really want to have this as a a real story, not an April Fools. Because it sound fantastic! And most modern retellings of Greek Mythology that I've read (Greek because of Hercules) is about the gods and such, or a ton of great decedents? of the gods themselves, not people like Hercules :) And Manticores, can't think of a story with them, so I'd love to have this story!!! :)

  40. I was wondering about this. I could have sworn someone said that your new book was about Halflings trying to blend into human society in some post apocalyptic thing or something. Was that a joke to?
Puck is influencing you, Julie. :3 Nice one.
