ReplyDeleteNow on to your question. What thing would I miss if I were to become a vampire? There would be a lot. I would miss my family and very close friends if they weren't vampires themselves. I would also miss all the activities I did with them that could be done during the day. Although you could still technically go to the beach or play at the park at night it doesn't give the same feeling compared to when you are out during the day and feeling the warmth that the sun radiated. I'd miss picnics or laying on the grass and watching the clouds float up in the sky. I'd miss eating! OH LORD would I miss the feeling of eating cake and ice cream!

Thank you for the chance to win an ARC! I would miss everyday things like being able to go in the sun (especially since I grew up in the Caribbean), sleeping and wanting to enjoy food and not blood. ReplyDeleteDepends on what kind of vampire I was. If I couldn't digest food that would bother me greatly. If I couldn't go into the sunlight that would be a downer (though to be completely honest I stay in most of the time anyways sooo). But I think the things I would miss the most is the feeling of being alive, the sense of being in control of the urges of my body, and, after a few decades, all the loved ones that would wither and die.

I know that some vampires can in fact still taste some foods, but I'm sure that after all that blood my taste buds would diminish and eating chocolate would taste more like dirt. I know being able to live a long life sounds pretty cool but just knowing that you will be alive a long time while those you love and the ones your grew up with will all be gone sucks...I think that is what I will miss most family and friends.

Hm.. Mostly I think being a vampire would be BA. That's probably because I envision myself being some sort of supervamp :D

For example, PIES! Ahh for the love of pies... I tell you what, if you ever had my grandma's apple pie, you might consider not going vampire too!
Or sun bathing! There's nothing more relaxing that sitting on the beach in your swim suit or in a hammock reading the latest paranormal novel soaking up some vitamin D and sippin' on Great Aunt Alice's peach iced tea.
Or my husband! Unless, can he turn into a vampire too?
Wait... I'd miss my children... See, I'm currently pregnant with my first child & I'm so looking forward to meeting the little one & watching him grow up! And if I'm a vampire, then I could hardly have more children...

Being turned into a vampire puts you into a predatory category with humans being a vampire's diet, so I think I would miss being able to interact with humans, most especially with my family and friends, without wanting to consume their blood.

I would miss the sunlight so much. I know it's horrible for your skin, but I love just laying out & soaking up the rays. It would be really hard to live without that!

I would seriously freak about being frozen in whatever state I was in - i.e. overweight and not being able to change it. EVER. Wow, that makes me sound vain but I like the idea of being able to change my body and if you take that away from me, I start panicking!

I would miss my humanity. I realize that not all vampires entail them losing their soul, but I think the transformation and the needs of a vampire in some ways force its hand. I would miss the days that I didn't have to kill things to live.

There are some major downsides dependence on blood (no more tacos), can't go out in the daylight (must resort to night swimming to entertain myself), and plus blood just seems nasty to drink (replace with fruit punch?)... I'd probably stay away from them for a while until I adjusted better, but even still, I imagine I couldn't be around them without much self-control and difficulty. And I'd hate for people to look at me differently because I'm changed. I wouldn't want to feel isolated or openly judged for something out of my control.

There is so much I would miss. I'd miss food, because as a vampire, all I could eat is blood and I get tired of things after awhile. My family and friends because I know as a vampire, I probably couldn't be around them and they are important to me. Not being able to have the same kind of love with someone else or having kids and growing older and watching them grow and have kids. Being able to go out on nice days and just enjoy it (I love that kind of weather and seeing the sun). I would just miss my life that I have, it may not be perfect, but I'm enjoying the ride of all the crazy highs and lows and I could never have the same things as a vampire.

ReplyDeleteI think I would miss feeling loved. When you're a vampire, not only do you have to see all your loved ones die, but you would spend eternity alone. Despite all the love stories about vampires, if I found another vampire to love I don't think it would be the same. And what if they die? So I would most likely end up spending eternity cold and alone, and that would be the thing that would finally turn me into a bloodsucking monster: the despair of being alone forever.

I think, as a vampire, I'd miss being human the most. Homo sapiens are the dominant member of our Earth today, the species that conquered, the top of our planet. Instead of being human I'd be the enemy: the blood-sucking, never-dying, potentially-hideous creature of humans's legends, stories, and nightmares. I'd be feared, hunted, hated. Losing humanity means losing the ability to eat, to sleep, and to desire. Maybe I can't even love, or have someone fall in love with me, or take a walk out in the sunshine without bursting into ashes and flames or being stabbed through the heart with a stake. It'd be racism all over again - but this time, by species.

I would miss being the "wise man", the human.

That's my BLOOD OF EDEN website, so naturally I added it there if that's alright.
If I was a vampire, I would hate having to see everyone that I cared about die around me, whereas I lived forever. I would also hate to have to drink human's blood, knowing what would happen after expieriencing it myself. Plus, I would miss ice cream and pizza. LOL

I would miss being mortal. Having the knowledge that you could die at any moment has a kind of thrill to it. Without that life wouldn't be the same.
ReplyDeleteI would miss the warmth and walking on the beach in the sun, reading by daylight in a tree on the farm, and attending school (not night school;)
And the most cliche one of all: I would miss everyone I love and care about. If I had to watch everyone I love die, I'd probably search for a way to kill myself.

ReplyDeleteIf I was suddenly turned into a vampire, I think the thing I would miss most would be the sunlight. The warmth of it on my skin; the way it glistens on many things. It's funny because I'm actually not much of a sunlight fan right now, but I know that if I was deprived of it forever, I'd grow to miss it the most! (That, and cookies!!) :)

If I were a vampire, I'd miss being able to keep up with everybody. Everybody would start aging and I would be left behind and then I'd have to roam the world all alone. Also, I'd really miss being able to eat real food. Who DOESN'T need sugar to live? I would just stare at the sweet stuff all day and drool.

I guess I would miss my emotions just like the ability to love, because eventually if I know I can never love someone without them dying and me never aging I'd eventually forget what love, hate anger or anything else like that would feel like and I porbably wouldn't kill myself because I bet I'd still be scared of death and just going around in circles like that never feeling anything would kinda suck.
