Ask Me Monday
Hey guys!
I know I haven't been around much lately, on Twitter or online. This last month I was in the middle of Deadline Panic Mode and so things like socializing, sleep, and sanity kinda went out the window until now.
However, I've decided that I'd like to talk and share more with my readers, but Twitter doesn't allow for long conversations and I'm awful at Facebook. So I decided to come up with a new weekly post called Ask Me Monday. How it works is this: I will take one random question from the comments every Monday and post an answer here, so if you have something you've been dying to ask me, now is your chance.
Things I will not talk about:
1. Religion
2. Politics
3. Spoilers for my upcoming books.
4. What I think of other author's books.
5 I also cannot read your story/refer you to my agent or editor.
Most anything else, though, is fair game. This is just a way for me to talk to my readers, to have a conversation that is more than 140 characters. So go ahead, ask me stuff. About writing, about Kung Fu and Kali (lovingly referred to as Hit People With Sticks class), about my chickens, about dog training (I used to be a professional dog trainer before I was an author), about favorite foods/manga/video games, anything.
So let's get to know each other. Go ahead: ask me Monday.

Will you give me Ash. Or someone exactly like Ash and is not taken.
ReplyDeleteWhen will we hear anything about the third Call of the Forgotten book?! I read the second one in probably a day and have been dying ever since!
ReplyDeleteDitto to anonymous' comment! Although I read it months ago and have been dying for longer. ;)
ReplyDeleteAlso, did you research or take Kali classes like Ethan did?
What about fantasy literature inspires you the most? You create this whimsical worlds and characters, what first inspired you to take up writing for this genre?
ReplyDeleteSome times writers have multiple versions of some of their characters, as the character may have many different sides to their personality. Did you have any multiple versions, or other ideas, of Meghan? If so, what were they?
ReplyDeleteWhat is you favorite genre (seems innocent enough to ask) and what is your preferable The Elder Scrolls race? :D Mine is Dark Elf all the way.
ReplyDeleteWhat ever happened to the three fey Ash had asked to look over ethan in Iron Princess?
ReplyDeleteI remember reading that you played Final Fantasy X. I love love love that game, and one of the reasons why I love fantasy and writing. There was such a good story behind the graphics. Anyways, I have a couple of questions. Have you ever played any of the other Final Fantasy games and did you play the sequel to FFX, FFX-2, and if you did, what did you think of it?
ReplyDeleteWhat is your favorite manga or who is your favorite mangaka?
ReplyDeleteI'm not only asking this out of curiosity but also because I ran out of awesome mangas to read ( - n - )
Is there any news on making The Immortal Rules movie?
ReplyDeleteI think you've mentioned you love the Dragon Age games. Who is, or who are your favorite characters?
ReplyDeleteMs. Kagawa -
ReplyDeleteDo you read the fanfiction on your series The Iron Fey?
'Cause I think I'm obsessed with The Iron Fey.
I even came up with my own OC . . . :P
Anyways, I kinda have 2 questions:
1. Would you read other people's fanfic about The Iron Fey?
2. Would you read somebody's fanfic story about The Iron Fey if they asked you to?
Did you like writing to begin with? What made you become an author?

ReplyDeleteWho do you love more? Ash or Puck? If you love them both then what characteristics do you love about them? Oh and could you please go into great detail! I need the details!!!!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteNo offence - but why is your hair grey???

ReplyDeleteWhat are the chances of the iron fey as a tv series? Cause it would make great story to unfold slowly and take time to develope the characters!!
ReplyDeleteWhat does your husband look like? I don't think we've ever seen him.
ReplyDeleteWhat's your favourite anime/manga?
ReplyDeleteWhat is your favorite of the books you've written?
ReplyDeleteDo you play any video games? If so, which are your favorites?
ReplyDeleteWhat character in your books are you most similar to? Did you base any of your characters off people you know/knew?
ReplyDeletei just realized that you're coming to the bay area in February! Yay! One thing...I have ALL of your books...so 9 books. Will you sign them all?
ReplyDeleteDear miss Kagawa,
ReplyDeleteI just want to say that I'm a big fan. I'm obsessed with The Iron fey, the most beautiful books I ever read, and The Iron Queen made me cry. There are no words to say how much I love The Iron Fey and you. Omg Grimalkin! He's so cool. I really like Puck but I'm sooo in love with Ash. This may sucks and maybe this is weird but that doesn't matter to me. Sometimes when I read the books I am so jealous of Meghan. :) I'm a 14 years old dutch girl by the way and I would love to meet you. I would do everything to meet you! You're my idol and you're absolutely the best! I write too but I'm never going to be as good as you. There are so many things I want to tell and ask you so I've got this question so I can tell you everything. I know that I act weird now but I just respect you so much and I want to meet you so badly. Here's my question: what is your e-mail adresse? Lots of love from the biggest Julie Kagawa-team Ash-lover of the world!
Hello Miss Kagawa,
ReplyDeleteI'm an illustrator and folklore nerd, and I basically devoured the Iron Fey series in under a week[end]. It's really awesome and refreshing to find novels about fairies/faeries that don't shy away from their morally ambiguous, opportunistic nature (post-Victorian Tinkerbells get a little repetitive after a while). Reading some of your depictions of the Seelie and Unseelie courts has even given me a few ideas to illustrate :) That, and the concept of lore and mythology [trying to] adapt to the changing agendas of humans (often in bizarre ways that might not always work) is fun to think about.
Thanks for writing such a fun series!

what ever happened to the iron fey comic things from the fundraiser? It was said to be released on September 25th 2013, but it wasn't. I later got an email saying that they would be mailed out the first week of October and still nothing. My parents later sent a message to the person in charge and they responded by saying that on 11/12/13 the people said that they would mail it out that week and still nothing. I would really like to know when we would be getting our stuff. please let me know soon
ReplyDeleteWill Iron Traitor be released on Audible?
ReplyDeleteWhat are some of your favorite books that you would recommend?
ReplyDeleteI don't read books until I came across Iron Fey series. All along, I read manga coz pictures are easier to understand, but your books really got me to imagine them a world of their world. I want to ask, do you get your inspiration from manga? What kind of genre do you like you read? Do they help you to write better or just a form of distraction from your writing when you need a rest?
ReplyDeleteHi :) You are my favourite Author (probably the only author whose name i remember) and i try to do some writing too. Buf i always find myself losing interest in my story after a while, may it be a writers block or the story just got boring. So i want to ask you what is your inspiration and how do you keep things exciting?
ReplyDeleteJulie, what gave you the idea for the Iron Fey Series? How long did it take u 2 write the 1st book? Also, as a writer do u have to write a certain amount of books in a certain amount of time? What is your favorite type of dog and what book are you reading right now?
ReplyDeleteHi Julie! So, my question is, would you collaborate with somebody to write a story if you could?
ReplyDeleteIs there going to be a Call of the Forgotten #3 book? If there is, when will it be coming out?
ReplyDeleteDo you find it annoying that there are so many Anonymous people?
ReplyDeleteBut my real question is, if you could, would you meet up with a (maybe crazy) fan?
Oh, and I'm a kid, so please don't get angry.
