So, exciting news. Mark your calenders for Tuesday, April 15th. Why you ask? Two awesome reasons:
1. It is the release date for The Forever Song, the final book in the Blood of Eden trilogy.
2. There will be a cover reveal for a book about something that rhymes with WAGONS.
(Not the real cover.)
Ahem. So, yes the TALON cover reveal will be on Tuesday, April 15th, so be on the lookout for that. And to celebrate both the cover reveal and the Forever Song release, let's have a contest.
Contest: GUESS THE TALON COVER.
You already know what it's about. So, what do YOU think will be on the Talon cover? Dragons? Humans? Nothing but fire? Nothing but text? What colors? What background? The more detailed the guess, the better. Leave your answer in the Rafflecopter thingie, and then return here Wednesday, April 16th, to see whose guess was the closest.
The winner will receive:
1. A signed copy of The Forever Song.
2. A clay chibi dragon, handmade by myself. Similar to the ones pictured below. (These little guys have already gone to their new homes, so the winner's dragon will be different. But something like this.)

I'm thinking we'll see some dragon, but more of an stylized form or partial than a full proper dragon. For the colours... I'm thinking some deep blue and grey or black, and the title in the center, surrounded by the stylized dragon or dragon tail...

DeleteFor the Talon cover, I believe it will have Ember on the cover, looking fearsome and awesome in all of her red, orange and yellow glory. The actual word Talon will be either textured as dragon scales, either in gold or black, or just emblazoned in a bright color, big and in the center of the book so you can't miss it! No people, mainly a close-up of Ember, so little room for a background, but if there is one, it should be of the sky, as in she is flying. Well, that's my guess - super excited to find out what the cover looks like and thank-you for the amazing giveaway!

I think dragons and humans, or a mix of both holographic imagery, where it moves from dragon to human when you move it. Dragon colors- Blue, Red, Green, or Sliver.

ReplyDeleteI think Ember or some dragon will be on the cover. Not the whole dragon, but like a close up of the head/neck [kind of like The Inheritance Cycle by Christoper Paolini]. The title will be above the dragon, shiny, a tiny bit raised off the cover, and would be written as dragon flame/fire. The author's name [we know who that is of course! :) ] will be below the dragon. There will be like a stormy/ dark background, and some hints of other images in the darkness. And bordering the entire thing is a beautiful gold gilded pattern.

I'm thinking a fire breathing dragon with its wings out-stretched, swooping in but the major focus of the cover would be a close up profile of the talons. The dragon is going to be red, black, and gold. Or an image of Ember with her dragon like qualities, sort of like the cover of Firelight by Sophie Jordan.

Based off the synopsis and that small sticker thing on The Forever Song, I'm thinking the background is black or a dark blue and Talon is in Gold font. I think there'll be some sort of hill at the bottom with two figures staring at a dragon in the sky and some sort of emblem for the Talon group or something somewhere on the cover.

ReplyDeleteOooo giveaways are the best! Based on past covers I believe that there will be a face for sure. Most likely a girl with the eye looking all dragony. A hint of wings or scales behind her or on her skin. there will be fancy font probably sharp edged. Color wise. . . Green is a good guess. It would set it apart from the other two series but I think out will be more of an orange or red color. More of a dragon color. No matter what it looks like I can't wait!

DeleteI think that the cover will be half a dragon head and half a human head side by side so that they kind of meld together and it will be close up so that there is no background. The dragon half will be red and gold, and both will have the same eyes, green maybe? The title will be in that really cool, scratchy font but colored like fire. I really hope that there is a talon on the cover too, maybe a part of the title, or being worn as a necklace...perhaps a necklace worn across both the human and dragon halves so it hangs right in the middle of the title to make the L in Talon?

I know the novel is about being hunted by "Order of St. George" so perhaps their symbol will be on the cover.

The TALON cover would most probably feature a half dragon/half human kind of thing (where the dragon is in the middle of transforming into its human form or something like that). There would be a figure, either a girl or someone else in some awesome stance (or the girl's hair flying behind her) and then there would be like someway that she and the dragon woud be linked together, in some way. Maybe it would be hovering above her like some ghost.
I'm not sure about the colors, but my guesses would have to be red and black and dark blue and dark green. Yeah, lots of guesses.And there would also be symbol or insignia somewhere.
I think there will be a dragon (a purple one) and a girl (Ember). The girl or dragon is a shapeshifter, so they will change. Or maybe there will be a dragonsclaw with talons. Or maybe the weaponshield or sign of Talon and the Order of St. George. The title "Talon" will be in gold and the 'O" is the weaponshield of Talon, it will have something to do with a dragon. Sooo...it would be really cool , if there are two halfs of faces : One of a human being at one side and at the other one the head of a dragon (like the cover of immortal rules (but the one with the eurolean girl) and with a half dragon-face at the other side . The background is black , but the two eyes of the person&the dragon are glowing red/orange like fire . The letters TALON could be vertical between the faces in gold ...:-D

I think we'll see Ember and Garret in the foreground, with part of Ember's face covered in scales and claw marks in the background. I'm feeling half face of human girl and half dragon. The scales will be a deep blue with golden tints. The background will be just black, with smoke swirls surrounding the face of Ember. Ember will either be a dark blonde or brunette. Her eyes in the cover would be a beautiful hazel or light brown. She will have this mysterious look to her, but a smile on her face.

So, I think the cover is going to be black, with part of a dragon's head in the top left corner, light reflecting off the dragon's scales. ReplyDeleteI think the cover will be in a dark color (black), with two dragon eyes looking straight at the reader. There will be a shadow of its snout and scales, and a hint of the fire beneath those scales, a bit like glowing coal.

The background would have to be dark, and so would the dragon, of course, to make the eye and title pop a little. And then the title and other text (Such as the author's name) should be in gold. Maybe, faintly in the background, or on the back cover, there could be fire, but not so that way it takes away from the pizzazz of the golden text.

I am guessing the human would be a girl, since you know, easier for a female writer to write about a girl. Also, since Kayla and Meghan (sorry if I spelled that wrong LOL) had black and blonde hair, I predict this human girl will have brown hair! Which is AMAZING!!!! I am assuming she will be wearing a tank top or something light. And maybe one-half of her body, such as arms and face, could be covered in light scales just fading away. I think it will be a muted purple cover, with a close-up of a dragon's talon. Maybe a hazy background with fire to add a little atmosphere? Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be awesome!

I'm gonna go with a flying dragon (or some other epic dragon scene like a dragon swooping in to grasp something.) with a firey background. Probably a black background with fire coloured fire ( because what other colour would fire be?) And a blue or green dragon.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe a close up on a dragons face, because YA covers are often close up of faces and from what I've seen dragons are no different, but same colour scheme.
Honestly I think the people going with the whole talon thing are probably right. Because hey it's an obvious choice. But I wanted to go with something different because the chances that i'm right are really bad anyway.
Maybe it shows Ember and Dante back-to-back in human form though they're tilted to the side so that you see a bit of there bodies and their arm touching, slowly turning into scaly dragon skin and the hands having talons. Also, the soldier is looming in the background.

I think the cover will be fiery red for Ember with her profile over Talon in the background. =) As far as the wording, I think it will be sharp and jagged at the bottom of each letter like the swipe of a talon. SteeleReviewsATgmailDOTcom

DeleteI think the cover will show part if not all of the red dragon Ember, especially showing her scales and talons, with the insignia of the Order of St. George in the center of the cover. Lettering will be in gold.

I think the cover would be neat if it was a half body of a girl or boy in their swim wear, just sort of looking off in the distance. Then maybe have their shadow have dragon wings or if they're looking so we see their face, maybe one of their eyes is 'dragon' looking. The background would be cool if it was a sunset or sunset type colors, faded a bit so it was dark while the Talon title (in white) was against it on the left side of the person. And of course Julie's name at the bottom with 'Book 1' or the 'from author of Iron Fey/Blood of Eden series' sticker.

I think it'll be black - a leather like surface (like dragon scales) with gold font reading TALON across the middle--and the O will be filled with a stylized gold dragon! :) Very cool.

ReplyDeleteI think the cover will feature a close up of a dragon face, with an emphasis on the scales (red?) and the eyes... I think the eyes will contrast with the scales because they'll look very human, with either curiosity or courage mainly showing. There could also be some really cool lighting, something reminiscent of flames. And then the title in the center Talon in gold lettering, with the 'O' beginning a dragon on the inside (a symbol probably used throughout the titles of the series...possible title Ascalon?)

I think that there will be a dragon curled (like curled in a spiral in the center) then a girl/boy curled in the center of the spiral with the dragon. So basically, the dragon curled on the outside and the girl/boy curling on the inside. It sounds (and looks) better in my head haha. Then the text will be bold but the ends of a few letters will come to some sort of point, and sit towards the top of the cover. Colours would be like a grey with red or another bright colour for the scales of the dragon.

ReplyDeleteI think in the center there will be a black thing in the shape of some thing that is a cross between a flower (cuz she is a girl and a flame (cuz she is a dragon ) and maybe a bit of shield mixed in for the group of dragon hunters, with the word talon in white, so there is plenty of contrast, in simple font, almost like dragon claw marks, on the symbol. The backgroung will be a really pale color, beige or white, for more contrast, and under the symbol, your name in black.

I think there will be a black background patterned with scales with the cover having a gold dragon on it. The dragon will be very vibrant against the black, and will be medium sized taking up most of the cover but not all of it. There may also be some red around on the cover representing fire, and the title TALON will be in beautiful gold caps lock letters with a dragon in the 'O' like in the pre cover. I think its called a pre cover. Also Julie's name with be written in the lovely gold lettering and there will be gold and red and black and some gray all over the cover. That's my guess :)

Hmm maybe a dragon's claw? With all the scales and a talon up close (HA, Talon inside the talon maybe?) lol I'm thinking red for the scales. Ooooo gold lettering with a fancy font as the title! Maybe a logo of the dragon hunters under it? And of course Ms. Kagawa's name right under that. I can't wait for the reveal!

I think that it will have a light blue background of waves breaking onto the sand...It will have a script of Talon on the top/near the middle of the book. On the bottom half will be Julie Kagawa...Along with either a girl/boy with a shadow of a dragon or a dragon claw hovering in midair. The claw will be red with gold tints, and there will maybe be a shadow of a sword. Other than the waves in the background, the sky will be dark....Dark blue or black maybe. The letters will be in a fiery script.

Okay , if I were thee brilliant minded Mrs.Kagawa here's what I'd feature as my book cover for a dragon series.
ReplyDeleteI'd basically put a solid color based on the main Dragon,if there's one just guessing, but yes, one color. And a nice big title up center. But for example if the main Dragon maintained the ability to ice, the color I'd choose would be an icey blue, with a nice white title. With a beautiful, bold cursive font. With lonely snowflakes falling from mid air. Or if the Dragon maintained the ability tk breath fire the cover would most likely be a firey red, with a touch of orange or yellow. But okay, just to be on the simple side you ,Julie, can just feature an all black cover, keeping it simple, I mean come on, who doesn't have a fondness for the color black? Why define just one dragons abilities? Black would not give anything away, it's simple and just down right wicked. Readers that fell in love with the 'Blood Of Eden' series wouldn't mind it at all. Well they shouldn't. And you can maybe leave hints of the main Dragon's abilities in the color you set on the title, or fonts. I still stand with the beautiful, bold cursive. And as for the picture you'd feature it would maybe be a tail of a Dragon. It's typical but come on, I haven't seen a dragon with no tail. That would kind of odd, in my opinion. But it's a limb that ALL dragons share in common. So that's my greatest guess. I wish the best of luck to whomever is entering. Thanks for the opportunity, guys! I would love to win. -spam

ReplyDelete1. A girl's face, likely Ember, with golden dragon eyes. The background of the cover is black, and the symbol for the Order of St. George is somewhere on the back cover, in flames. TALON is in bright gold letters, below the girl's face.
2. Same as the first idea, a girl. But this girl looks normal, except for a feral glint in her eyes. There are claw marks on the wall behind her and the silhouette of something lurking in the shadows. The shadow is either of a dragon or a member of the Order, weapon in hand. The entire cover is in very dark colors and, once again, TALON is in bold letters.
3. Dark dragon scales, either black or purple, with just TALON written on the front. The letters may be flaming. On the back, a dragon's talons are hidden somewhere in the background.
Whatever the cover turns out to be, it's gonna be awesome. That I know :)

DeletePopular books have often different US and UK covers, so I guess there's a possibility if you just wait a bit :) I like the cover, but it'd be interesting to see what someone else would come up with.
