In no particular order.
1. Varen from Nevermore: Dark, tortured, brooding and mysterious is how I like my guys, and Varen Nethers is about as tortured and brooding as you can get. There's just something about his stoic resignation that makes you want to leap in and save him, both from himself and the horrors that surround him.
2. Will from Firelight: Technically, I'm just starting this book, but I already love Will, the young draki hunter out to get Jacinda (in more ways then one). Like I said, I've only just begun, but I expect the romance to get fire-breather hot really soon. :D
3. Gale from The Hunger Games: No, I am not Team Gale. I am not Team Peeta, either. I will reserve judgment for who I think should get the girl. But Gale is a skilled hunter and a rebel, and I like him slightly more then the soft, somewhat bumbling baker boy. (Team Peeta, don't kill me. I like Peeta, too, just not as much.) I have a sneaking suspicion who Katniss will end up with, but having only recently read Hunger Games (yes, I'm late), I still have two more books to see where the story takes the characters.
4. Kylar Stern from Way of Shadows: Not a YA book, but Kylar starts out as a street rat and grows into a formidable assassin. That's all it takes for massive love from me. Anyone who knows me knows I have a thing for assassins (my favorite YA hero is and remains Valek from Poison Study). I don't know why I love assassin stories so much. Maybe its the mystery, the dark allure, the inner torment. Or maybe its because I'm also a ninja nut.
5. Mackie Doyle from The Replacement: Mackie is weird. He's different. He's a changeling. And I might have a biased love for all things faery. But Mackie tries so hard to be human, to do the right thing, even though he really doesn't belong in either world, that you can't help but admire his determination.

Nice list. I haven't gotten to Nevermore yet, nor the Replacement, and I really didn't like Will. He was way to perfect for me, and I spent most of the book rooting for Cassian. Gale>Peeta always

I liked Will, but I think I liked Cassian better. The whole alpha male thing might not be great in real life, but it's hot in a book. lol I am also a Gale fan - sorta like you where I like Peeta but I like Gale better.

3. Delos from 'Black Dawn' in the Night World series. I don't know why, I just found him... very alluring with his cold demeanor and slowly developing love for Maggie. Very alluring.
4. Jace from 'The Mortal Instruments' Uhh do I really need to explain myself??? Sexy, sarcastic, confident, loving, and protective?? Enough said.
5. And last but not least...... Quince from 'Forgive My Fins' I really do love him. He did whatever he could to make the girl he loves happy, even try to help her get another guy she wanted! Caring, funny, lovable, and trusting, he is absolutely adorable!!!!!!

It's funny that you mention Varen now because I just read Nevermore, like, yesterday x) And I have to agree! The dark and brooding are my favourite type too.

Varen from Nevermore, and St. Clair from Anna and the French Kiss. So different, but both so great in their own way. Dark and Broody, and Bright and Charismatic. I'm always a sucker for cute dark haired boys. But, I'm about to start reading Iron King for the first time, so in a few days my answer might be different.
I totally agree with Will. He's dragon-hot. I need to get my hands on Nevermore to know Varen. I'm more of a Peeta than Gale, but I love him tooo! Ash is totally on my top 5, along with Jem of CA and Jace of course. :D

Regarding Firelight, I LOVED this book. It's definitely in my 2010 Top 10. I was hooked within the first few pages and read it all in one sitting, finishing in the wee morning hours. Although I am TEAM WILL, I liked Cassian, and I have a few predictions for him and Tamra. I think Tamra's going to eventually manifest and be a shader like Nidia, and Tamra and Cassian will end up together. (There are hints dropped all over the place about Tamra possibly being a shader: Nidia's old and they're worried about what will happen when she dies since she's the only shader, Nidia manifested at a later age than usual, etc.) Tamra obviously cares about Cassian while Jacinda doesn't, so I think perhaps this is where Sophie Jordan is taking us. Just some thoughts!
